Hi,
after reading around on this forum for a while its now time for my first post. I'm Lars Rasmussen and i'm currently in a three year lutheriecoarse at carl malmsten school in stockholm, sweden. The school is just great, spending the first year and a half building our way through the instrument history of the guitar, and final year and a half experimenting, going to practice in some estblished luthiers shop, taking the journeymansletter and finaly recieving a b.sc. in guitarmaking.

This winter I'll be building an archtop guitar in the style of d'aquisto solo, I have come over a really beautiful set of european maple, and now i'm looking for a matching top. Im thinking engelmann, or maybe if i can come over a nice set, european spruce would match the more yellowish tone of the maple.

So, I'm in the hunt for suppliers. I've looked at timbretone in canada, but they are out of higher grades at the moment. Do you have any tips of smaller or bigger suppliers that carry tops in good quality?

Pardon if my english isnt correct everywhere, but i hope you get my message

Try the list of vendors here on this site. Goodman, High Mountain, CV, etc...all are likely to have archtop top sets.

Lars if you are looking for a supplier in the UK try Touchstone Tonewoods, you can email them on sales@touchstonetonewoods.co.uk I know they have master grade European Toips at the moment.

Another interesting option is to check out the Double Bass tops that Ed Dick of AC Woods (one of our sponsors) has...it would provide a one piece (!!) high quality sitka top. By the way he has both cello and bass tops.

Hi Lars,

I have some nice arch top sets. They are Lutz Spruce, a Sitka/White spruce hybrid. They are very nice. Prices are posted on my web site.

Sorry Lars, I hadn't seen that you were looking for comments on Lutz Spruce. There are number of people on this forum who have this spruce in their possesion. But to make it easy Shawn from a couple of posts ago in this thread, has some. He may make comment.

Thanks
